Once you arrive at your destination, you’ll be eager to set up your RV home in the most convenient way possible, so the first thing to do is get those outside rooms set up. If your camper doesn’t have an awning, you will probably have purchased a freestanding one to provide you with shade. Set it up now and place your waterproof outside mats down immediately to reduce dirt being tracked into the interior of your RV. You’ll also need to hook up to various amenities like electricity and water that are provided

Arrange your picnic table and chairs in a convenient way around your outdoor area. Extra small tables are handy for placing drinks on. They will help prevent those sticky spills that encourage ants and other small animals in where you don’t want them. Comfortable seating will make outdoors resting more pleasant and encourage children to rest after exhausting activities. Place them all so that access to food, drinks and other belongings is convenient.

You may have decorative bunting or lighting to provide extra outside light and help the children identify their RV amongst all the others. In the evening, light up those citronella candles to keep the mosquitoes away. A cooler kept outside during the day will provide easy access to drinks and reduce wear and tear on the RV - and the air-conditioner. Many trips in and out of the RV may reduce your cool indoor air.

Extra trash containers outside will encourage everyone to clean up after a meal. This will help to discourage flies. They can be kept behind the RV where they are easy to get at, but not in the way. Never leave food on the table at any time, unless you are actually eating it. There are many little critters just waiting for a tasty snack and what they don’t eat, they’ll spoil. Always check with the staff at the Park whether you need to bear-proof your food.

No one likes the work of sweeping while on holidays, but if you keep a broom handy in your outdoors area, it will reduce the amount of sweeping required inside your RV. If you plan on sitting around a campfire, see if there are safety rings you need to use. Find out which way the wind is blowing before you choose a site to light the fire, otherwise you could find the RV or outdoors area full of smoke. Each person should be responsible for certain jobs, so that once all the setting up is done, you’ll all be able to relax and enjoy yourselves.
